TRUDEAU EXECUTIVE BOARDROOM 16-OUNCE TRAVEL MUG

Needing a gift for my son-in-law's birthday, I chose this travel coffee mug, a lidded design, a handsome one. I did what you would do. I searched on Amazon. I wanted a mug on the large side, but something unique and more dressy.

I came across this Trudeau design and lingered to investigate. Here is what I was looking for, and here is what I found:

What I need from this mug:

1) A STAINLESS STEEL MUG

Stainless steel gives off no metallic taste, period. Stainless steel is very sanitary and easily cleaned , so much so that it is used extensively in restaurants and hospitals. Use a solution of vinegar and water to periodically clean the mug, as there is no need for fancy coffee-machine cleansers. Stainless steel will not chip or shatter as will glass or ceramic mugs. Stainless steel is not safe for your microwave, but I would never nuke my coffee to reheat it unless my taste buds were irreparably destroyed. I chose the brown leatherette trimmed exterior instead of black. It fits all car cup holders.

2) A DOUBLE WALLED, INSULATED MUG

Keeping the coffee hot, though not for an hour or two, is important to me, but because I know coffee well and know that coffee should best be consumed FRESH within ten to fifteen minutes for best flavor and aroma, twenty minutes tops, I did not want or need a thermos, but it looked as if this is one, in a way. If I want more coffee, then I make more FRESH coffee. Brewed Coffee quickly deteriorates in flavor and aroma. Coffee is delicious to me when kept above 150 degrees F during my sipping. After twenty minutes, I discard the staled coffee if not consumed by then, but it usually is. The leatherette sleeve protects your fingers from radiated heat coming from the mug's wall.

3) SPILL-PROOF LID

The lid can be opened and closed. A quarter-turn of the knob in either direction opens or closes the lid. Once closed, the lid securely seals the liquid contents...you cannot spill the contents.

4) A MUG WITH A SECURE HANDLE

Got to get a good grip. My Frieling French Press handle has a level place upon which to rest the thumb, and a thumb block, a place to prevent the thumb from slipping off and permitting spillage,f integral to the shape. This Trudeau mug handle also has a level place for the thumb to rest, and a flared-out flange for the thumb to rest upon...very secure indeed...a positive grip for sure. I have been known to fumble a cup so I insist on some design help to compensate for that. The leatherette-covered handle provides a non-slip advantage for the fingers.

5) A MUG WITH THE CAPACITY I NEED

My "17-oz" Frieling French Press IS 17-oz at the brim, but is never filled that high or coffee spurts out when pressing the plunger...so I fill it to 14 fl.oz. which would fill a Starbucks 16-oz Grande with room for cream/sugar or for spillage, a big serving of Java. This mug holds that amount, as a "16-oz" mug, but I usually pour 14 ounces to allow for sugar and cream, or for spillage. Everyone wants their desired coffee or tea serving size, and that will vary. Suffice it to repeat that this is a good sized mug by most standards.

A HANDSOME MUG

Yeah, I could drink out of a jelly jar, but something good to look at makes drinking so much more pleasurable. The sleek stainless parts and the brown faux leather sleeve and handle covering looks so real and so, well, so grown-up...I like that. It comes in brown, black, purple and pink. In time, the leatherette will age, and the white stitching will develop a dignified grim, darkening it, only to add a patina...so tres chic.

INCREDIBLY FAST SHIPPING

My order for this travel mug for my son-in-law's birthday, and a desk version for me, was placed one day and I received it the next day, with STANDARD shipping! I did not ask for overnight shipping. I was visiting my daughter in Los Angeles when the order was placed, and noticed that the return address was from Amazon Fulfillment in Las Vegas, NV. The distance is only a couple of hundred miles. Even so, I have never received any Amazon order that quickly, never. I remain impressed.

CONCLUSION

Overall, yes, I think this fits the bill for me. The Trudeau mug has everything going for it that I require. For $11 you cannot go wrong. As for you, it might not be your cuppa. My guess is that many of you shoppers might agree with me.
