Much better than expectations!!

After reading the negative reviews I was a bit worried about the difficulty of cleaning the lid and the length of time my coffee would stay hot. I bought the 2 pack anyway since the price was great and I really wanted to try out some Contigo products to see for myself.

The first morning I tried these out, I used extremely hot coffee like normal as my first test. I filled them both just a 1/4 inch below the bottom of the threads for the lid. I turned them both upside down for a few seconds just to make sure there were no leaks. After ensuring there were no leaks I left for work. As I sipped the first cup it stayed very hot for about 30 mins and started to cool down gradually as the contents of the container got lower. It was still very warm after 90 mins when I was finishing the last of it. What shocked me was how hot the second was. I didn't anticipate the coffee still being as hot as the first cup started off and so it burned me a little when I drank from it without caution. That was a great sign in my opinion. The second cup was barely warm to the touch like the first one was but it was still super hot after 90 mins of sitting untouched. It cooled at the same rate of the first after I started drinking for a while and lasted me another 90 mins or so.

Cleaning was so easy in my opinion. Rinsed both tops with very hot water while letting the water flow completely through the openings. So far I see no build up what so ever. Even still, I plan to rinse them once a week with my liquid coffee pot cleaner just in case and I can't imagine any issues. These are definitely the best coffee containers I've ever owned. They are perfect for me. If I find any issues I'll post back but so far they are exactly what I've been looking for.

Great overall mug but with a few flaws.

I am reviewing these mugs after 2 years of use. The positive first. Overall these are great mugs, the best I've ever used. Entirely leakproof (until recently, more on that shortly), even when mug falls onto the floor of the car. Keeps coffee warm for several hours. Not 5 or 8 hours for sure, but definitely warm 2-3 hours which is good enough for me. A litte about our usage of the mugs. We use these mugs to drink coffee in the car on the way to work, finishing the coffee on the way and leaving the empty mug in the car all day and then take out each night and clean at home. Some days we hand wash and other days we use the dishwasher top rack . I've put the bottoms in the top rack too, although I do know you are not supposed to.

Despite our daily cleaning of the mugs, for whatever reason, over time the lid of the mugs develop a black gunk in the hard to reach places, mainly around the spout, and this gunk causes a sour, foulish taste to the coffee. It took about a year for this to start to develop and at first we didn't even realize it. However, once we did we did everything to try and get it out, from sticking knives and other thin objects in there to soaking it in hot bleach water to whacking the lid against the side of the sink. Most of the gunk will eventually come out using our techniques, but that overall sour taste never leaves from that point on.

Also, recently the rubber around my lid has started getting soft and gummy and little pieces have ripped off around the bottom. My mug has started to leak slightly and I am sure it has to do with this rubber.

Finally, my husband's red mug body has developed scratches in it over time. It could be from putting it in the dishwasher, but he tells me it's just from daily use over time.

All of these things brought us to the conclusion that it's time for a new set of mugs. Considering how well these mugs worked for us in terms of being leakproof and sleek design, we are definitely buying this same set of mugs again. However, now we know the flaws and understand that we will probably get about 2 good years out of the mugs before they need to be replaced. That is okay for us, but you decide if the flaws are worth spending the money on these mugs. Obviously as I gave this an overall 4 stars, we think the pros do outweigh the cons and we are buying the mugs again. Hope this review helps.

Best Coffe Cup!

If I could I would give this cup 10Stars. I have had dozens of coffee cups in the past. This cup is amazing!!! I got the 2 pack, one for myself and one for my husband. We both love them. I can put this in my pocket book and be worry free that my coffee is not going to leak. I love the toggle lock that this cup has too, it just adds to the security of knowing that your cup isnt going to leak. Go ahead and try it!!! This cup is worth every cent.
