5Great product - just need to know the tricks!
By Amanda Massaro
I bought a set of these at Boscov's, and so far they've been better than any travel mug I've ever used. It's true that reassembling the lid can pose a minor challenge, and I've had liquid leak out and spill into my sleeve once. But the lid assembly trick is straightforward, once you get the hang of it; and I just wasn't paying enough attention (or wasn't awake!) and over-filled the mug. Here's what I know about how to get the most out of these mugs:

With the lid disassembled, hold the hard plastic piece upside-down, so that aligning the threads of the two pieces will be like screwing the lid onto a jar. In this case, the hard plastic piece is like the jar - you want it to be relatively stationary as you screw the silicone (or whatever material) piece onto it. This is because the notches on the rim of the button in the center of the hard plastic piece need to line up with the protrusions on the round, gear-like piece in the center of the silicone part of the lid. If you keep the hard plastic piece fairly still and screw the silicone piece onto it, being sure that the threads of the two pieces are definitely lined up, the notches and protrusions should line up easily. I've found that keeping the hard plastic piece upside-down while reassembling the lid makes getting these lined up much easier than if I have the two pieces in a different orientation. I think this is because the button in the hard plastic piece falls away from the gear-like piece, preventing the notches and protrusions from butting up against each other. When you assemble the two pieces this way, the alignment seems to work flawlessly on its own because there's no way to get the threads of the two pieces of the lid properly aligned unless the notches and protrusions interlock correctly. Just turn the silicone piece as far as you can to be sure there really is a proper seal.

When filling the stainless steel cup itself, do what I do and use your finger to find the raised marking about half an inch below the top of the mug on the inside wall. I was thrilled to find that the manufacturer incorperated a tactile marker for letting people know where to find the fill line. This is a technique that I and millions of other blind people have used for who knows how long. If your coffee is so hot that you don't want to touch it and you happen to be sighted, just look inside the rim of the mug and visually find the marking molded into the metal itself. Do not let the level of the liquid in the mug go above this marking; this includes anything you add, so you might have to do what I do and pour a small amount of coffee out before adding cream or whatever you like. Screw the tightlly assembled lid onto the stainless steel mug, push the center button to drink - and enjoy!

Happy spill-free coffee/tea/mulled cider enjoyment!

5They've been great mugs for me.
By J. Leath
I picked up a two-pack of these at a club store (basically came out as buy-one-get-one-free). I liked the 360-degree drink radius, and the fact that it it vents from all sides to (I'm tired the tiny dribble of coffee I get out of mugs with a tiny vent... only for the drinking hole to vent itself and result in a surprise wave of hot coffee that usually spills all over my shirt). For my short commute, the coffee is usually drinking temperature by the time I reach work (I don't like my Thermos mugs that keep the coffee at the same temperature as it comes out of the Keurig... I can't drink it for 4 hours unless I unscrew the lid or pour it in another cup). I'm drinking out of this cup now, and coffee is still very warm (preferred drinking temp for me) after brewing it 3-1/2 hours ago.

I also love that the top assembly unscrews into two simple-to-clean pieces. I know this is the cause of leakage and headaches for others... but neither of mine have leaked at all for 3 months of everyday use (knock-on-wood).

The stainless steel body is well made and looks sharp. The rubber bases are also well sealed in place... unlike the cheap giveaway mugs, where the glue melts off after the 3-4 run in the dishwasher.

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones (based on other reviews), but these continue to be my favorite mugs in in the cupboard.

1Disappointed on Father's Day
By Spike333
My wife purchased the Cuisinart® Easy-Clean 16-Ounce Thermal Mug at Bed Bath and Beyond (Cuisinart 16-Ounce Double Walled Stainless Steel Coffee Mug on Amazon)for a Father's Day gift. I was looking forward to using it as I drink a lot of coffee and I am constantly heating it in the microwave. I was very disappointed when the second time I filled it and began to drink, the coffee leaked onto my favorite shorts. The problem is, that when you unscrew the top, the orange elastomeric part in the base of the lid unscrews too. I tried to tighten both but it will no longer seal and continues to leak. I will be returning it of course. I design commercial products for a living and wonder how much testing went into this mug. I don't even see it on the Cuisinart website, did you discontinue it already? I'm looking forward to my Thermos Stainless King 16-Ounce Leak-Proof Travel Mug.
