Test results for skeptics

I read the reviews and am probably as skectical as anyone. When I received my Thermos - I filled it with hot water and dumped it as a preheat. Then I filled it with 200 degree water. In two hours it was 190 degrees. After four hours it was 180 degrees and after six hours, it was 170 degrees. The matching mugs - filled at the same time. After six hours they were at 160 degrees. The lids are a little more complex to take apart than some suggested, but nothing a reasonable person who can read directions should have a problem with. The seals are as leakproof as suggested. and the dark blue is just beautiful. Taken in total, the thermo and the mugs are awesome. They aren't cheap, but still are an excellent value. They made a believer out of me.

I bring a quart of hot tea to work every day and have been a fan of Thermos bottles for 25 years. I had always used an insulated glass bottle, until I noticed that the newer bottles were more prone to breakage. I did some internet research and found the Stainless King. It is excellent at retaining heat, ensuring a very hot cup of tea throughout the workday. One weekend, when I emptied a half-filled bottle over 24 hours after filling it, the tea was still significantly hotter than hot tap water. I am looking forward to using this bottle for a LONG time. The only very minor drawback is that the metal handle does "rattle", making a metallic noise. I might consider one of the handle-less bottles for a future purchase, but I am sold on the insulated stainless steel.

This thermos has paid for itself over and over.

I bought this item December 2011 as a gift for my husband. I swear on a stack of bibles, I meant for it to be HIS Thermos. Why would I need a Thermos? I work from home. Then, I caught a really nasty head cold. I came across a ginger tea home remedy recipe that recommended steeping your ginger and lemon in a 5 cup thermos. I quickly Googled the 5 cups to Ounces conversion... err I mean, I quickly did the math in my head. What do you know? 40 ounces exactly! My tea stayed hot till the last drop even when I finished it off the following day. This Thermos didn't leave my side for a week.

I also like to toss my cold beverages into my Ninja and blend in some ice. I loved the slushy goodness but hated having to repeat the process multiple times a day. Now I blend a full pitcher at a time, pour my glass, then funnel the rest into MY Thermos. I have poured drinks as long as two days later and it was still filled with ice. I rarely ever toss out a half finished beverage anymore. I can just pour what I need without having to stop what I'm doing to get a refill.

My husband has owned other thermoses in the past and they were okay. However, NONE of them kept liquids hot/cold as long as this one. Their handles broke or their exterior got all banged up or they got pushed to the back of the pantry all dusty and forgotten. This thermos still looks as shiny and new as the day we got it. That is saying something, since I have an extremely hyper 70 lb German Shorthaired Pointer, a rambunctious two-year old daughter and the grace of a deaf bat. This Thermos has taken a beating over the past 15 months and I'd wager it continues to hold its own for at least triple that.

I will only ever buy Thermos brand thermoses from now on. Speaking of which, I should probably order a Thermos for my husband. He has been wanting one for a while now. :)
